JamHero User Agreement

By creating an account, signing in, or using JamHero (web or mobile), you agree to this User Agreement.

1. Eligibility & conduct

You must provide accurate profile information and use the service lawfully. Harassment, spam, or abusive chat is prohibited.

2. Uploaded media & copyright

• You may only upload audio, photos, or video you own or have rights to use (copyright-free, royalty-free, or licensed).
• No uploading copyrighted material you do not control.
• JamHero may remove content that violates these terms.

You represent that any audio, photo, or video you upload is:

• Your own original work, or
• Copyright-free / royalty-free, or
• Licensed or owned by you with rights to share on this platform.

Do not upload commercial recordings, samples, or loops you do not have rights to use. JamHero may remove content and suspend accounts that violate these rules.

3. Location & discovery

Exact GPS coordinates are shared only with mutual friends. Other users see approximate area counts until you match. Location features exist to help you find musicians and public meetup spots — not to disclose private residences to people you do not know and trust.

4. In-person meetings & physical safety (read carefully)

JamHero is a discovery and collaboration tool only. We do not employ, supervise, vet, or endorse users. We do not run background checks, verify identities, confirm musical skill, or guarantee that any user is who they claim to be. Anyone you meet through JamHero was a stranger before you matched or joined a session.

4.1 Never use your home for a first meeting

Do not invite people you met through JamHero to your home, apartment, condo, dorm, basement, garage, backyard, rehearsal room in a private residence, or any other non-public location for an initial meetup. Do not accept an invitation to someone else’s private residence for a first jam, audition, or “quick listen.”

Inviting strangers into your home — or entering a stranger’s home — creates serious risks including assault, sexual violence, robbery, kidnapping, and death. Criminals and predators can use music communities to gain trust. JamHero cannot protect you in a private space and explicitly discourages this behavior.

4.2 Meet in public first — every time until you trust someone

For early in-person contact, meet only in public, well-lit, populated places with other people and staff present, such as:

• Restaurants, cafés, or coffee shops on busy streets
• Bars or venues during open hours (not after closing in empty parking lots)
• Public libraries, community centers, or municipal buildings
• Music stores, instrument shops, or rehearsal studios that operate as businesses with staff on site
• Parks or outdoor spaces only when they are active, visible, and during daylight unless you have additional safety measures

When setting a jam location in the app, pin a public venue address (e.g. “Joe’s Diner, 123 Main St”) — not your home address. Use “My location” or GPS only when you are already at that public place and intend to share that public meeting point with friends you are actively meeting.

4.3 Your safety checklist

• Tell a trusted friend or family member who you are meeting, where, and when you expect to return.
• Share live location from your phone with someone you trust for the duration of the meetup.
• Arrange your own transportation; do not depend on someone you just met for rides to isolated areas.
• Meet during reasonable hours; avoid isolated late-night meetings.
• Keep your phone charged and accessible; know how to contact local emergency services (e.g. 911 in North America).
• Do not leave drinks unattended; do not accept substances from people you do not trust.
• Bring a friend to the first few meetings when possible.
• If anything feels wrong, leave immediately, go somewhere public, and call for help.

4.4 Jam sessions, gigs, and shared locations

Hosts and conductors choose session locations. Participants attend voluntarily. JamHero does not inspect venues, enforce capacity limits, fire codes, accessibility, or neighborhood safety. You are responsible for evaluating whether a location is appropriate and safe for you.

5. Assumption of risk & release of liability

YOU USE JAMHERO AND ANY OFFLINE MEETINGS AT YOUR OWN RISK. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you assume all risks arising from:

• Meeting, traveling with, or performing with other users in person
• Sharing location data, directions, or venue information
• Attending jams, gigs, rehearsals, or social gatherings arranged through the service
• Equipment theft, damage, or injury at any venue
• Communications, disputes, or conduct between users on or off the platform

You release JamHero, its owners, operators, affiliates, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from personal injury, death, emotional distress, property damage, theft, assault, harassment, or any other harm connected with other users or third parties — whether or not JamHero was notified of potential risks.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of profiles, or safety of any user or location.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, JamHero and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or personal injury or death, even if advised of the possibility. Where liability cannot be excluded, total liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid JamHero in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the minimum permitted by law.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless JamHero and its operators from claims brought by third parties (including other users) arising from your use of the service, your content, your conduct, or any in-person meeting you arrange or attend.

9. Friend chat & subscriptions

Chat is available only between matched friends. Basic (free) accounts may send up to 5 friend messages per calendar day in total. Pro subscribers receive unlimited friend chat.

10. Changes

We may update this agreement. Continued use after a new version is published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
