JamHero Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 — effective 2026-07-05

Public URL: https://jamhero.infynidex.com/jam_hero/privacy.php

Stellar Enterprises / JamHero (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the JamHero website and Android mobile application (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

This policy works together with our User Agreement, which covers conduct, uploads, in-person safety, and liability.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account & profile data

When you register and use JamHero, we collect and store:

  • Account identifiers: username, email address, password (stored as a secure hash — never plain text)
  • Profile: public nickname, first and last name, bio, instruments, genre, musicianship level, discoverability settings
  • Photos and audio you upload (profile avatar, gallery, audio samples, jam session recordings)
  • Activity data: friend matches, chat messages between matched friends, jam session participation, gig applications, Hero Points
  • Technical logs: mobile API tokens, device name, client platform (web/Android), optional crash/diagnostic logs you send

1.2 Location data

JamHero uses opt-in location sharing. You are offline by default until you tap Go Online in the app or on the website.

  • While online: we receive GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, accuracy) to power Discover (map + swipe), show distance to other musicians, and share exact GPS with matched friends only.
  • While offline: we do not update or share your live location; friends cannot track you.
  • Jam sessions and gigs may include public venue names or coordinates that you or a host enter — not your home address.

You can go offline at any time. Location is processed to operate discovery features described in the Service; we do not sell your precise location to third parties for advertising.

1.3 Microphone, camera & media

With your permission, the mobile app may access:

  • Microphone — to record audio during jam sessions and upload stems to sessions you join
  • Camera / photo library — to set a profile photo or gallery images you choose to upload

Recordings and uploads are stored on our servers associated with your account and shared according to jam session rules (e.g. conductors, session members, published session mix). Web jam recording (Pro feature) uses the browser microphone when you explicitly start recording.

1.4 Push notifications

If you use the Android app and allow notifications, we register a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token linked to your account to send alerts such as jam invites, friend messages, and session updates. You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time; some in-app features may still show badges when you open the app.

1.5 Subscriptions & payments (Google Play)

JamHero Pro subscriptions are billed through Google Play. We do not receive or store your full credit card number. We receive from Google, as needed to verify subscription status:

  • Google Play purchase token and product ID
  • Subscription status (active, expired, trial)
  • Related account identifiers to enable Pro features on your JamHero account

Payment processing is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play → Subscriptions.

2. How we use information

  • Provide discovery, matching, chat, jams, gigs, and profile features
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure (including session timeouts on web and mobile)
  • Enforce our User Agreement (e.g. copyright on uploads, chat limits on free accounts)
  • Send service-related email (e.g. password reset, chat notifications when you are not in the app)
  • Send push notifications you opt into on Android
  • Verify Google Play subscriptions and grant Pro access
  • Improve reliability (e.g. optional crash/diagnostic logs)
  • Comply with law and protect users and the Service

3. How we share information

  • Other users — profile fields you mark public/discoverable; location rules described above; jam content with session participants
  • Service providers — hosting, email delivery, Google Maps (maps/directions), Firebase (push), Google Play Billing — only as needed to operate the Service
  • Legal — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the Service

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers.

4. Data retention & security

We retain account data while your account is active and as needed for legal, security, and backup purposes. Mobile login tokens expire after a period of inactivity or maximum age (see session settings). You may request account deletion by contacting us; some logs may be retained where required by law.

We use industry-standard measures (HTTPS, hashed passwords, access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Your choices & rights

  • Go Offline — stop location sharing anytime
  • Profile & privacy settings — edit profile, discoverability, and location privacy mode in the app or website
  • Permissions — revoke microphone, camera, location, or notifications in device or browser settings (features may not work without them)
  • Delete content — remove profile photos, audio samples, and some media from your profile
  • Sign out — ends your session; mobile logout revokes the API token on the server

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Contact us using the information below.

6. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data and we will delete it.

7. International users

Our servers may be located in Canada or the United States. By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed in those locations.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the new version at this URL and update the version date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
